The Inspo

Liza Jackson Park is one of my favorite places to settle in and paint for a few hours when it’s cool enough outside. The pavilions have picnic tables that are perfect for dragging out all my watercolor supplies and painting my surroundings, or whatever else strikes my fancy that day.

In September 2020, Hurricane Sally rolled into the Gulf, knocked out power and destroyed the waterfront walkways at The Landing downtown. It also sank the boat pictured here, which has been sitting in the waterway leaning to one side ever since.

Oddly enough, that same hurricane is also the reason I met my partner. The day before it hit, I was out watching the surfers at the pier when we met. So yes, it’s technically a painting of a half-sunken boat, but to me, it’s also a little reminder of the weird series of events that led me to the love of my life.

The Print

This fine art print is professionally produced from my original watercolor painting on heavyweight, smooth matte paper.
