The Inspo

When our cruise ship docked in Ketchikan and we saw the forecast for the day, we knew seeing the town that day was going to be a challenge. And by 10 am, we were drenched from head to toe. Turns out water-repellent isn't the same as water-resistant...and I learned that lesson the hard way.

We hopped back on board to change clothes before heading to a local hiking store for an actual waterproof jacket for myself, which saved the day and was somehow a blessing in disguise because it was much-needed the rest of the cruise.

The whole day was wet and cloudy and dreary, but we made the most of it (thank God for the waterproof hiking boots we picked up in Vancouver). Wouldn't you know, about 15 minutes before we were to be back on the ship, the rain stopped, and the sun started peeking through the clouds. With the most breathtaking views surrounding us from the top deck, I stood there crying for a moment in gratefulness as a seaplane took off on the water. I snapped a quick pic and loved it so much that I spent four hours painting it in the Solarium the very next day. So I guess this one was painted live and on location, just one day delayed.
